Turtle on a mission

While we usually see turtles returning in early spring to lay their eggs, we never did see them actually laying their eggs ... until this year. This one decided to lay her eggs late in the season by the pedway.

The kids drew a chalk circle so they could watch from a respectful distance. Some ended up standing in the rain late at night watching her lay her egg by muted flashlight.

A visitor was lucky to see this event with us. Of course, when she returned home, she shared her story of how it was to live here and the turtle laying her eggs by the pedway. Her daughter's next question was, "Mom, when you go to Eno Commons again, can you take me?"
